What Have You Read Lately?

I would love to hear about any books you have read lately. I was so caught in the political process for the last year of so, and found new interest in current events and world news. Thru it all, I still listened to sci-fi, and murder mystery/romance audiobooks by authors like Stephen King, Dean Koontz, Nora Robert, and others. I listen during my commute to work primarily. What about you?

Planning for Retirement

I plan to work about 4 more years; but even now, I am counting the days. I think about how I will spend my free time. I have so many crafty things that I want to start doing again -- like scrapbooking. I really am not worried about what I will be doing. I love to be on the web, watch sci-fi and comedy, and just enjoy the beauty outside. At times I do wonder if I will miss teaching my nursing students; and I imagine there will be times that I will. But overall, I am mentally getting ready, and if by some twist of fate (or financial blessing) I can retire sooner I will. I want to travel more, and spend more time with my daughters and grandchildren. How do you feel about your upcoming retirement.

Can We Talk?

I decided to develop this blog as a way to start keeping in touch with some of my oldest and dearest friends, and close relatives. If you are reading this then you are one of them. I hope to jot down a few words about once a month at least just to touch base with you. You all probably won't know each other, but I am sure we all have some things in common, that we can discuss. Tell Me What You Really Think!

We just went thru a 'moment' in history - the candidacy and election of Barack Obama. I watched the whole campaign in great detail and I had both hopeful and hurtful moments. I am still in the afterglow of the election, and I am painfully aware of the racism that still runs rampant thru this country. I would like to know your feelings about this year's presidential election. Please feel free to express your opinions here, tastefully of course.
